I-95 Bridge in Portsmouth closed in both directions

The Piscataqua River Bridge on Interstate 95 from Portsmouth to Maine is closed down in both directions this morning.

The bridge, also known as "High Rise Bridge," stretches between Portsmouth and Kittery, Maine.

Authorities have not released any details as to why the bridge was shut down. New Hampshire State police posted on X that the bridge was closed "due to an active incident."

Traffic on the northbound side of the highway was being diverted at Exit 7 in Portsmouth. Maine State police said southbound traffic was being diverted at Exit 3 in Kittery. It is not clear when the bridge will be reopened.
