Broward County Schools:
Late Wednesday, Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) announced that all campuses will be closed on Thursday due to updated storm projections. This includes before- and after-school care, activities, field trips, and evening events. 🚫🏫
Miami-Dade Schools:
Despite the harsh weather, Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS) confirmed that schools will remain open on Thursday. However, outdoor activities are moving indoors, and outdoor sports events are canceled. After-school care programs and evening classes will continue as scheduled. 🌧️🏀
Other South Florida Schools:
Palm Beach County Schools: All district schools and offices are closed Thursday, along with all extracurricular activities and sports. 🛑
Monroe County Schools: Schools and district offices are also closed on Thursday as the Florida Keys deal with intense winds, coastal flooding, and high surf warnings. 🌬️🌊
Archdiocese of Miami schools will also remain open Thursday, showing mixed responses across the region as officials keep a close watch on Hurricane Helene’s path.
With hurricane-force winds extending up to 25 miles from the center and tropical-force winds stretching as far as 345 miles, South Florida remains under a tropical storm warning.
