New Hampshire bank launches annual Mitten Tree Drive

By Riley

The Merrimack County Savings Bank is holding its annual Mitten Tree Drive.

You can drop off handmade or store-bought mittens, hats and scarves at any branch. Also, every article of clothing donated; the bank will donate $2 to food pantries across southern New Hampshire.

Last year, 1,500 items were collected, and the bank donated $5,000 to local food pantries.

"We've provided yarn, and they're looking for something to do, and it's meaningful for them to give back and it's meaningful for the folks that are receiving them," said Linda Lorden, president of Merrimack County Savings Bank.

Anyone can donate items between now and Dec. 31.
